After watching the 2014 Spring/Summer collections in last October, a massive amount of artworks was fused in this season’s womenswear. Designers started to utilize garments as canvases and depict their artistic visions of spring and summer. In the SS ready-to-wear show by Chanel, the chromatic crepe dresses caught my eyes instantly. It’s like a color boom bursted on a white skirt, the color prints, the accentuation on the waist line, and the float of the dress impressed me. This is the reason why I put the Chanel girl on the banner on top, and why I used this April photo shoot to somehow duplicate the amazingness of Karl Lagergfeld.
Not only the Chanel show utilizes art, Prada painted various face portrays on dresses and coats; in the meantime, Celine’s brushed painting on all pieces also fabulously emphasizes arts in fashion; also, Giles directly pictured a whole illustration of arts on gowns and shirts. The list can go on, but the phenomenon really shows that designer houses are considering the aesthetic of fashion. Clothes are not only something people would wear day by day, they are also a divergent of artistic expression.

Using the T-shirt to make a statement, the cinched skirt and two bags as its accomplices, adding the socked heels to give it an extra height, they all commits the crime of being both Chic and Artistic.

Look 2: the Chanel Girl
On Chanel's show, models all wear socks beneath high heels, so I experimentally try this style, and pair it up with artistic dress which is featured heavily in Celine's show. This look suddenly evaluated to another level, more French flare, more Chanel.
